Precautionary Principle

Go Green, How to Build an Earth-Friendly Community.
pg. 17:
We do not practice the Precautionary Principle in the United States. This concept says that if we suspect something is toxic, it should not be put into a product. The Precautionary Principle states that "when an activity raises threats of harm to human health or the environment, precautionary measures should be taken even if some cause and effect relationships are not fully established scientifically. The European Union has adopted the Precautionary Principles, which puts the burden of proof on the chemical company not to introduce a particular chemical if it is suspected of causing harm to human health or the environment.
